The app contains:

• Berties ABC
A rhyme all about the letters of the alphabet. Listen from A to Z or tap on individual cards to look at each letter and illustration in turn. Making the association between each letter, word and picture really brings the alphabet to life.

• Letters & Sounds
This section gives children the chance to take a more detailed look at the letters and listen to their phonetic sounds. Tap on each card to see the letters one at a time. This is where we see the shape of each letter, learn its name and the sound it makes.

• The Carrot Quiz
This is the first of three educational games. The Carrot Quiz asks questions about the letters and each correct answer wins a carrot for Bertie. The quiz encourages letter identification by presenting each letter in a variety of ways. It really is learning while having fun.

• Matching Pairs
In Matching Pairs we go on a search to find two letters of the same type. Tap on the face-down cards the app gives you to find the letters that match. Matching Pairs helps children become familiar with letter shapes by identifying identical letters. Each correct match plants a dandelion in Berties garden too!

• Big & Small
This game teaches the difference between upper and lower case versions of the same letter. Tap on the letter which is the opposite case to the one the app has given you and win some sweetcorn for Bertie. Here we see that letters are written in two ways and learn the association between the different cases.
